David Austin's Margaret Roberts

Margeret Roberts is South Africa's well-known herb lady. In ancient times, roses were very much part of the herbalist's collection, and it is fitting that this rose be planted amongst herbs. Its excellent growth habit forms a robust, twiggy shrub that continuously branches to produce new flowers. These are large, soft pink in colour, with round buds that open to form a shallow cup filled with many petals. The strong "Old Rose" fragrance is its particular charm. In addition to being a marvellous specimen shrub, it can also be planted as a hedge, and can provide additional security if planted against a wall or fence. The flowers can be used to make potpourri or jams, and can be sprinkled in bath water.
